Hydrological
and Environmental Assessment of Chemical Production Facility
|
In remediation and monitoring of a chemical
manufacturing facility, Schreuder, Inc. performed an extensive
geophysical investigation using electromagnetic survey, then installed 78 monitor wells, 7 recovery wells and 3 treated ground water
re-injection wells. Aquifer
tests and groundwater flow modeling were conducted during the program to
determine placement of recovery and injection wells, and optimum
recovery and injection rates. Contaminated
water was recovered, treated and injected back into
the shallow ground water system to modify natural groundwater
flow patterns, to enhance additional contaminant recovery by
hydraulically forcing the plume to the recovery wells, and to prevent
contaminated ground water from migrating outside the property boundary.
